The Turkish Get Up

The beauty of the kettlebell is its simplicity — a lump of metal with a handle that can be used to perform a wide range of exercises. But you that you can get great results with just two exercises – the one-handed swing and its partner in crime — the Turkish Get Up.

simple yet effective

This movement takes you from the lying flat on the floor to standing and back down again, all while holding a kettlebell. Sounds simple enough; and once you have the techniquet grooved it is fairly straight forward. That doesn’t mean it’s not an outstanding all over body exercise.

recommendation

To groove the movement, start with a light 18lb bell and progress from there. When your proficiency and the weight you can safely complete the exercise with increases, then repeating TGUs left and right hand for five minutes non-stop can be an outstanding aerobic exercise.
